ASM International Fellow: Prof. Michael Pecht
ASM International has elected CALCE Director Prof. Michael Pecht as a member of the 2020 Class of Fellows in honor of his contributions in the field of materials science and engineering. Prof. Pecht has earned this achievement through his “technical contributions and leadership in the areas of electronics reliability, physics of failure, and sustainment.”
Prof. Michael Pecht is a world-renowned expert in strategic planning, design, test, and risk assessment of electronics and information systems. He has a BS in Physics, an MS in Electrical Engineering and an MS and Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Prof. Pecht is a Professional Engineer and the founder and director of The Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE), at the University of Maryland. CALCE has served over 300 of the world’s leading companies as a resource and knowledge base for the development of reliable, safe, and cost-effective products and systems for more than 35 years.
