Lin, Lingnan
Dr. Lin’s research is focused on fundamental phase-change heat and mass transfer, with applications to energy transport, conversion, and storage. Current interests include flow boiling and condensation, thermal energy storage, HVAC&R, and electronics thermal management.
Prior to joining UMD, he was a Research Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where he initially trained as a visiting Ph.D. student and later as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. He earned his Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2018 and B.E. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2013, both in Mechanical Engineering.
He is a recipient of the Xia An-Shi Research Fellowship and the NIST Distinguished Associate Award. He was among six early-career engineers selected globally for the 2022-23 ASME ECLIPSE leadership development program. He is a member of ASME, ASHRAE, and IIR, and serves on many committees within these organizations.
