Candidates apply for one general operations co-op position making them eligible for any of the departments listed below. These are individual departmental opportunities where they become a department team member for six months. Operations co-ops are an integral part of their respective departments. Each co-op is responsible for both supporting base business tactically through report generation, analysis and strategically through idea generation and innovation. Co-ops will have the opportunity to work on and lead cross-functional project teams, which support current business requirements. Co-ops will be part of a structured co-op program, which consists of a formal mentoring program, visibility to upper management, professional training and networking opportunities.
Operations is responsible for a wide breath of areas within the product life cycle:
Indirect Procurement Services: Analyzes spend and partners with internal customers and external suppliers to identify cost savings and value add opportunities within indirect spend.
Stock Purchasing: Strategic management of raw material suppliers primarily in the areas of Chemicals, Packaging and Fibers/Non-Wovens to support production across internal and contract manufacturing plants.
Supply Chain Planning: Collaborates with numerous cross-functional departments to forecast demand, create and communicate production plans and manage inventory logistics.
External Manufacturing: Oversees all external operations across a diverse network of global plants with a focus on quality, cost, service, and innovation.
Project Management: Coordinates the execution of the Global New Products Process, develops and enhances overall Operations performance through Process Excellence and related projects.
Distribution: Manages the logistics of moving product from manufacturing sites to J&J distribution centers nationwide. Cross-functional contact for Planning, DCs, Transportation and EM for product moving within network.
Process & Technology: Supports systems and processes related to Procurement and Supply Chain business planning, administers internal websites, maintains custom built MS Office applications, develops business solutions using automation, identifies new software or applications for use in everyday work.
Supply Logistics
Acts as the direct communication link between the SLC and the Operating Company regarding tactical and strategic initiatives. (Location: Skillman, NJ)
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification): Collaborates with internal & external business partners on development/use of RFID processes. Conducts research & analysis on how J&J consumer can best utilize this technology across the supply chain. (Location: Skillman, NJ)
Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment CPFR
CPFR is fast becoming the standard across many industries for managing inventory through a supply chain. The CPFR team at J&J works in partnership with our top customers, as well as with J&J Sales, Trade Marketing, and Manufacturing, with a focus on customer forecast accuracy and proper replenishment of customer inventory. Transportation
The Global Transportation Organization manages $250MM in transportation spend for Consumer, Medical Device and Pharma sectors across 20+ J&J Operating Companies globally. Lead cost and service improvement initiatives by collaborating with cross sector business partners & transportation providers and help improve metrics & reporting capabilities. Logistics Integration
Assist in developing and maintaining network optimization models. Expected to work with business and IT to develop data required for building and maintaining distribution network models. (Location: Morris Plains, NJ)
Trade Customization
Collaborates with supply and demand functions across six Operating Companies on promotional display designs and graphics, sourcing strategies, order management, customization, contractor management and compliance. Lead improvement projects and drive results in cost and service through supply chain and sourcing processes. (Locations: Skillman, NJ; Morris Plains, NJ; Fort Washington, PA)
Distribution Center
Supports inbound, outbound and inventory control functions. Performs regulatory audits. Collect network scorecard data and performs analysis. (Locations: Tobyhanna, PA; Olive Branch, MS)
Distribution & Customer Logistics Strategy
Owns Distribution & Customer-facing metrics and uses data to identify Supply Chain improvement opportunities and solutions with internal/external customers. (Location: Skillman, NJ)
Reverse Distribution
Focuses on improvement of reverse logistics processes and performance. Partner with teams to manage cash flow activities and implement best practices to improve deduction management and resolution. (Location: Skillman, NJ)
